Travel Day

My Sleepy Traveler
We boarded a train to Guangzhou yesterday and made the uneventful two hour ride north into Mainland China.  Elyssa fell asleep right away and slept on Daddy's lap the entire way.  Great, that means another early morning with her tomorrow.  She's had trouble getting on schedule here.

We arrived at the Guangzhou East train station and met our guide who took us to our hotel.  Here's where the problems began... The desk clerk asked our guide what kind of room we had reserved.  Brian told her that we had the executive suite.  No problems, right?  Well, when we arrived in our room, it was not a suite.  After going back to the desk, Brian asked why they sent us to that smaller room.  "That's what your guide said."  Seriously, you don't have our reservation in the computer?  Anyway, they were very nice and corrected their mistake.

We had dinner in a hotel restaurant.  Of course Elyssa fell asleep again!  The food was good but the service was slow.  They brought out items one at a time and it was about 40 minutes after the first item came until Nancy got her wonton soup.  We can handle that.  What we couldn't handle was the cigarette smoke burning our eyes.  Seems that the non-smoking area is separated from the smoking room by a bamboo screen.  Wonderful.

It's morning now... Elyssa woke up at 4 AM this morning and is currently watching a Disney movie on our laptop.  No kids shows on TV so thank goodness for the computer!

We are meeting our guide this morning and are scheduled to get Danielle sometime today!
Doug the Elf made it to China!
