Gotcha Day!

The first family portrait.
Wow what a day!  We completed our family today when we added little Jiang Song Zhu to the clan.  Little Zhu Zhu was very quiet when we met her and didn't cry more than a few short moments.  Nancy held her and Elyssa was very reassuring and brought her a doll, or "wa wa" in chinese.  Danielle only cried after the initial hand-off when she heard some of the other children crying.  At the ministry where the hand-off occurred, she was so quiet that Brian was actually a little nervous.  However, the worker who accompanied her from the orphanage assured us that she was a very mellow and curious child.

While Brian filled out some official forms, Nancy interrogated the orphanage worker about Danielle's daily schedule.  Elyssa fed her a few pieces of cereal, which made Danielle happy.  Before we knew it, it was time to head back to the hotel.

After the very short trip to our hotel, we went to our room and fed Danielle a bottle of formula and some apple sauce.  She was quiet, curious, and began to warm to us.  When Nancy got up to do something, Danielle actually picked herself up and began to waddle after her.  That just melted Nancy's heart!  Of course, Nancy began to try on all of the outfits she brought along with us to see how they fit.

Brian ordered a pizza and went to 7-Eleven for supplies while Nancy and Elyssa bathed our new little princess.  Danielle was great in the water and never complained one bit.

Shortly after her bath, she finished her bottle and passed out on the couch.  We put her in her crib next to our bed and caught our breath.  Wow!  What an amazing little girl.

We'll post more tomorrow.  What a great day!!!
